These All Balls starter motors are more than a reproduction of the original starter motor. These are completely new designs using state-of-the-art technology and are in fact even a little shorter than the original Hitachi. The drive side is CNC machined aluminum with the exact sizes needed to replace a Prestolite or Hitachi starter. This billet aluminum drive side has a snug fit in the primary housing, giving such a strong fit that you no longer need the flimsy brackets that were fitted on the right side of the OEM starter. Made in Canada from new parts and give a full 1.4 kW starting power. Note that you can’t use one style starter to replace the other. An original Hitachi starter is 80mm in diameter, has a 145mm housing length and two #10-24 UNF thru-bolts. An original Prestolite starters is 70mm in diameter, has a 173mm housing length and two 1/4-20 UNC thru-bolts.
