It is important to choose the proper size grips for your motorcycle. Grips are available in 1″ for all 1974 and later Big Twin, Dyna, FX, FXR, Softail, XL Sportster, Touring, V-Rod, Indian, Victory and other ‘cruiser’ style motorcycles, as well as 7/8″ (22mm) for  XG Street, RH Sportster and RA Pan America, 1997 and later Buell and many vintage British, European and Japanese motorcycles such as BMW, Triumph, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha. Please note that larger than 1″ diameter handlebars usually are still 1″ in diameter at the controls. Any pair of these motorcycle grips has two different inside diameters. The grip for the left side (as if you were sitting on the bike) of the handlebar has a smaller diameter, and the right side grip has a larger inside diameter to fit over your throttle tube.
