Super rugged reproductions of the genuine Hitachi starter motors as used on Sportster 1974-early 1976, FL late 1982-1984, FX 1974-1988, FLT 1984-1988 and FXR late 1983-1988. This type of starter motor is commonly referred to as “short type”. All components are inter­changeable with OEM starter motors. 
Note: Hitachi and Prestolite starter motors nor replacement parts are interchangeable, always check the type of starter motor used on your Harley before ordering. An original Hitachi starter is 80mm in diameter, has a 145mm housing length and two #10-24 UNF thru-bolts. An original Prestolite starters is 70mm in diameter, has a 173mm housing length and two 1/4-20 UNC thru-bolts.
